GUEST STUDIO

Atelierhaus Mengerzeile welcomes its current guest:

Karla Marchesi from Australia resident from 1. August 2012 until 31. Januar 2013

The guest studio

The 90 square meter guest studio was renovated in 1994 by the Mengerzeile artist group and supported financially by the Treptow Council office. The studio consists of a large work space with a living area and kitchenette, a separate bedroom and small bathroom. German and international artists can apply to the Mengerzeile association for a residency of 3-6 months. There are unfortunately no grants for this space and the rent must be covered by the guest artist.

Keiyi Yanobe from Kyoto, Japan, was the first guest, resident from April 1994 until early 1995. Since then approx. 3-5 guest artists per year from all over Europe, North- and South America and Canada have resided at the Mengerzeile Studios. The guests are invited but not obliged to exhibit their work in the house gallery, Kunsthalle M3, at the end of their Berlin experience.

The Mengerzeile group has always promoted exchange with comparable projects in other European cities. Since 2004 the cultural secretary of West Sweden's coastal region Västra Gotaland has regularly rented the guest studio, thus enabling its artists to work in Berlin.

Rental conditions

Monthly rent (heated): 650 Euros including internet/not including telephone.

Deposit: 130 Euros refundable on condition that the studio has been cleaned and there has been no damage to studio property etc. at the end of the residency.

The committee decides in November, who will be granted the next residency.
