In my artistic practis im working with photography, installation, text and film. Farewell, loss and longing are a major source for my work. The void that the loss leaves behind is not filled out with something else. Rather, I try to keep the emptiness, as if it opened up to a heightened sense of reality. For many years and in several works, I have dealt with shipping as ametaphor or everyday struggles. Now I find myself wanting develop this practice. I am interested in stories of farewells and welcoming and Berlin has an immense amount of stories of those intensive emotional acts. Places like Tränenpalast in Friedrichstrasse are one of many emotionally brutal places in the complex history of Berlin. This place is literally connected with my project Mathematical calculation, especially with one of the texts about the percentage of salt in tears in ones life depending when and how much one cried. Another place arethe so-called Geisterbahnhöfe - stations which have lost there original purpose altogether. There was just no possibilities of farewell or welcoming and one was forced to only pass as a viewer in a ghostly manner. Not only the multilayered history of Berlin I find most inspiring but also the recent development, the fastness of change in this city makes it a most valuable source for my art.
